How Does engine works ?
Engine
1) What is engine?
An engine or motor is a machine designed to convert one or more forms of energy into mechanical energy. Available energy sources include potential energy, heat energy, chemical energy, electric potential and nuclear energy.
2) Fuels
Petrol , Diesel , kerosene, CNG, Hydrogen Gas, Electricity ,Alcohol etc. are the Fuels required to run the engine.
• Petrol and Diesel Engine are commonly use in car, ship,Train, generates etc.
• In petrol and Diesel engine there are two types called 2 Stroke and 4 stroke engine.
(1)what is 2 stroke engine ?
A two-stroke engine is a type of internal combustion engine that completes a power cycle with two strokes of the piston during one power cycle, this power cycle being completed in one revolution of the crankshaft.
• where it is use ?
Dirt bikes.
Mopeds.
Jet skis.
Small outboard motors.
Radio-controlled model planes.
• For the same dimensions power developed is twice to that of four stroke engines.
• Power required foe exhaust and suction stroke is saved.
• More uniform turning moment compared to four stroke engines hence a lighter flywheel is required.
• Lighter Weight
*Disadvantage
• Two-stroke engines don't last nearly as long as four-stroke engines ...
• Two-stroke oil is expensive, and you need about 4 ounces of it per gallon of gas
• Two-stroke engines do not use fuel efficiently, so you would get fewer miles per gallon.
(2)What is 4 stroke engine?
A four-stroke engine is an internal combustion engine in which the piston completes four separate strokes while turning the crankshaft. A stroke refers to the full travel of the piston along the cylinder, in either direction. The four separate strokes are termed:
1st Stroke = Intake
Fuel + Air mixtures is drawn in .
2nd Stroke= Compression
Air + fuel mixtures is compressed.
3rd stroke= Power
Explosion forces piston down .
4th stroke= Exhaust
Piston pushes out burned gases .
*Advantages*
• Four stroke engine makes less pollution as compared to two stroke engine .
• High engine efficiency.
• Low Fuel Consumption
• Oil is not needed in mixtures as Two strokes engine .
*Disadvantage*
• Low power output
• Heavy Vibration
• Complex structure
• It creates higher torque at a lower rpm.
